Receiving Long Service Medal
Bus tickets were bought a week in advance just to make sure that we are not left behind. On the other hand, by having the thoughts of the bumpy road, we were actually taken aback. The thoughts of meeting my old friends at Mukah Kingwood resort is overwhelming. The chance to purposely find a time to sit down and to recall our past memories is rare. We are all buried in our never ending job. This function has given us a chance to bring us together to have a long chat after being apart for almost 30 years since we last sat together in a class.
Continued on 10/3.
After the three and a half hour bus ride, we reached Mukah Kingwood Resort finally. Upon check-in, it was blackout for the whole hotel. We were in a two double-bed sea view bedroom without electricity supply for an hour. What the hell it is!! My friend opened the door to the corridor facing the South China Sea. The scenery is fascinating. We took the chance to walk to the sea side and felt the breeze gently blowing pass us. I was out of breath to describe the feeling of relaxation......
The 7-hour to and fro bus ride was unforgettable. In return, we were proud to be on stage for only 2 seconds, the moment when we received the long service medals from the Chief Minister of Sarawak. In terms of money and time, it was a great price to pay for that medal. The grand function finished at 11.00a.m. Lunch was served. We won't want to lose the chance of coming home earlier. We hopped onto a Mukah- Sibu bust at 12:30p.m. and safely reached Sibu at 4:30p.m. I was very much relaxed upon reaching Sibu- my dear and adorable hometown.
